Wado Ryu Cross training club is a fusion of techniques and styles. Although you will grade in Wado Ryu Karate, I have developed a training program that fuses Wado Ryu Karate with a variety of Kung Fu Styles and weaponry skills. Cross-training will allow you to develope greater skill and will become a well rounded diverse and adaptable martial artist.
Where Shotokan favours strong, deep stances and emphasizes power, Wado Ryu changed the techniques and stances to become lighter and faster. Some techniques from the Jui-Jitsu schools were adapted and included in the Wado Ryu training system making an art which was very maneuverable and fast. This makes Wado Ryu ideal in terms of combining it with the speed, fluidity and complexity of Kung Fu styles
Sparring is a fundamental part of the training program ensuring that students can apply the skills they learn to the point where they become second nature. Sparring is important because it makes you focus on the natural movement of yourself and your opponent. You quickly find out that made-up techniques and combinations seldom work and that natural movements, natural blocks and natural attacks are what will enable you to function is in a real situation.
